• You’ll be looking good…. just like
Hollywood …. we’ll be the lady and the tramp
  • All those lonely hearts…… as they fall apart……
    all those lonely hearts, cry
  • I’m a big girl now….
I can live through the pain…
I can see through the tears here comes the rain
  • I’m in love with this country…. I get so high…
I’m in love with this country of mine
  • No one holds me... honey holds me, no one holds me...
    I feel so damn low
  • And there written on a wall...
was a message for us all, in letters six feet tall...
where did the good times go?
  • And I don’t know where I’m heading from
and I don’t know from where I’m bound,
    but I need someone...
  • I can feel your bare feet walking... across the
redwood floor... And I heard you catch you breath...
    like so many times before
  • My teddy bear got drunk last night….
His fur was on the floor… and under it there was a
teddy bear note saying you don’t love me no more
  • The language of the English….  hangs around my neck.
The syllables…. that strangle…. every breath...
    talk in English
  • It’s times like these that I miss cigarettes……
    the smoke and the sky
  • Hello heartache, well you’ve been
here for a while. Soon our drinking friends
will be here, that should raise a smile
  • There’s a woman on Mare Street …
    down by the station… rattling
her can for another good cause
  • When summer’s over... it’s like any time of day…..
    looks like rain again today
  • He’ll arrive late in the pouring rain...
he’ll be leaving with the steam and the moaning wind...
    so please, carry him home
  • Life is a rodeo... we all end up in the dirt...
but the prize that I ride for is her

About Us

The Texettes are an Adelaide based original music trio consisting of Terry Bradford (songwriter / vocals / acoustic guitar), Helen Ellis (vocalist / songwriter / marketing & promotion) and more recently joined by Dale (Dixie) Ackland (chromatic harp /  backing vocals).

It was whilst Terry was co-compere of Adelaide based Three D radio's the Hillbilly Hoot that he formed the Texettes, an acoustic 5-piece band,  to record and album of his and associate Phil Bray’s original music.     Terry and Helen were part of the original line up that made their debut on The Balcony of the Governor Hindmarsh Hotel in March 2000.  It wasn’t long before the Texettes  were offered a residency in the front bar, where they performed for 18months.  It was during this time that the “Sweetheart” album was released (December 2001), which contained a mix of original songs written by Terry and Phil Bray.

Although there have been several changes to the line-up since 2001, The Texettes have released 4 more albums and 1 EP:  “The Land That We Love” EP (2004); the “Fearless” album (2006) ,  “Lost in Blue (2008).  To celebrate 9 years of original music, the Texettes released two albums in 2009,  “The Lady and The Tramp” and “You Can’t Do That .

Mike Parkes (88.7 Coast FM) says “The Texettes are a group that it is virtually impossible to pigeonhole….Mellow, bluesy, pop, jazzy, country…a whole heap of titles”

' I’ve listend to a couple of albums, "Fearless” and “Lost in Blue” ………..takes you in a direction your heart or head feels doesn’t it?  …….. diversity! '

Elvis Costello, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Fleetwood Mack, Hank Williams, Elvis Presley, The Fab Four, the list is endless - Louis Armstrong said "all music is folk music, I ain't ever heard a horse sing!"

Terry is a lyricist with a knack for cutting deep into the heart of personal politics, of love and life, in a deliciously wry whimsical way.  His songs are inspired by his surroundings and his diverse life experiences.

Terry's pedigree credits include song writing for The Little River Band, and stints in July 14th, The Every Brothers, Gospel Noir, Those Kodiaks, The Borderers, The Barkers and The Holiday. Whether it be a pop treasure or a heart warming ballad, Terry’s songs have intelligent heartfelt lyrics, rhythm and melody.

The Texettes record and distribute through Terry’s independent Adelaide based label,  Round Records, which was established in 1989, upon a personal vision to document the work of innovative and untapped musical statements.  With over 50 releases to it's credit since 1989, the Round Records label has provided an outlet for a diverse range of music that may otherwise have gone unreleased, for artists such as:-  Tubby Justice, Catherine Lambert, Kym Purling Trio, James Muller, The Bedridden, Robyn Habel, Black Taxi, Paul Wookey, Sasha Galliver, Leslie Millar Quartet, Shamrock and Thistle, The Borderers, Gospel Noir, The Lost Dogs Show, The Scrub Hornets, Andy Sugg Quartets, Peter Ayliffe Trio, Mike Festa, Yasmin and the Tealeaves, The Barkers, The Borderers, The Holiday, and The Texettes.
