Woo hoo news January 2012
Happy New Year to everyone!
The Texettes are having a great start, as we kick off 2012 with some good news! 3 songs made it to the semi finals of the 2012 Tamworth Songwriters 2012 comp: "After the Fire" (Roots Blues & Bluegrass section), "Country Rock 'n Roll" and "The Mystery in Me" (Contemporary Country Music section).
"AFTER THE FIRE" is through to the grand final of the Roots Blues & Bluegrass Section with the winner to be announced in Tamworth on January 24th. Regardless of the outcome, congrats go to TB for a good effort."After the Fire" is included on our "Country R & R" album that will be released soon, that features 16 of our best original country songs.
"ALL THROUGH THE NIGHT" CD launch in December went off like a cracker! Thanks to all for attending and for the heartfelt feedback received about the "fantastic lineup and the songs". We have had a limited number of the physical album manufactured, which can be purchased from either Terry or myself, or you can download individual tracks from ITunes.
WHO HAS TOPPED UP THE TEXETTES TANK OF ENTHUSIASM RECENTLY? Those Texettes fans who let us know when our music is played on radio; SA's Coast Fm, the ABC's Ian MacNamara, Spence Denny and Annie Gaston;Make Mine Country's Trudy Burke, Ali at ThreeD radio, Plenty Valley 88.6FM. We don't always know when or where our music is being played, so it's always exciting to get feedback, such as the email recieved from Pieter Country DJ from Holland who emailed "Two weeks ago when I entered the studio I heard a beautiful song of which I thought I know the melody but couldn't place the band to it. Our technician opened my eyes: The Texettes!"
ALBUM REVIEWS
"Best album yet (yes better than the last one that I said the same thing about but its true) quite a positive feel album. Red Dog had me singing to myself less than half way in..Babe very cool..Title track grabs your attention" Mike Parkes "Kicking Country" Coast Fm
"I was struck from the first song (the title track coincidentally) by the slick production....a darker tone seems to run througout this record which appeals to me immensely...To my mind this is the best Texettes album to date...exciting to see where this will lead..a real maturing of the sound..highly recommend it"
Tristan Newsome Oct 2011
"Brett Sody's production is clear, clean and full coaxing a rootsy country/soul album out of the material....gone are the coy country trappings...this collection goes to some dark places but ultimately rejoices in the simple redemptive joys of human love......another excellent collection of original material. Keyboards are a feature...bass and drums form a perfect foundation...brilliant saxaphone"
Stuart Day Nov 2011
"When roots music makes a logical evolutionary step forward you get something like All Through The Night....great songwriting and imaginative composition combined with analogue instruments and organic recording principles to deliver 10 tunes that traverse a cross section of contemporary music styles - radio friendly pop, blues, urban angst and country"
