• You’ll be looking good…. just like
Hollywood …. we’ll be the lady and the tramp
  • All those lonely hearts…… as they fall apart……
    all those lonely hearts, cry
  • I’m a big girl now….
I can live through the pain…
I can see through the tears here comes the rain
  • I’m in love with this country…. I get so high…
I’m in love with this country of mine
  • No one holds me... honey holds me, no one holds me...
    I feel so damn low
  • And there written on a wall...
was a message for us all, in letters six feet tall...
where did the good times go?
  • And I don’t know where I’m heading from
and I don’t know from where I’m bound,
    but I need someone...
  • I can feel your bare feet walking... across the
redwood floor... And I heard you catch you breath...
    like so many times before
  • My teddy bear got drunk last night….
His fur was on the floor… and under it there was a
teddy bear note saying you don’t love me no more
  • The language of the English….  hangs around my neck.
The syllables…. that strangle…. every breath...
    talk in English
  • It’s times like these that I miss cigarettes……
    the smoke and the sky
  • Hello heartache, well you’ve been
here for a while. Soon our drinking friends
will be here, that should raise a smile
  • There’s a woman on Mare Street …
    down by the station… rattling
her can for another good cause
  • When summer’s over... it’s like any time of day…..
    looks like rain again today
  • He’ll arrive late in the pouring rain...
he’ll be leaving with the steam and the moaning wind...
    so please, carry him home
  • Life is a rodeo... we all end up in the dirt...
but the prize that I ride for is her

WOOHOO!

It’s March and it’s still all about Tamworth for us. We loved everything about Tamworth and quickly discovered that  there weren’t enough hours in the day. We’d pour over the 30 page program each night, trying to decide who to see from the  hundreds of performers listed at  70 odd venues, as well as performing ourselves.  Spent a lot of time walking Peel Street to check out the Buskers and collapsing outside of coffee and cake shops. We were "discovered?”  We had no great expectation other than to perform as part of the SACCM Showcase contingency.  After 9 days all I can say is we had a lot of fun ... “we discovered Tamworth”.

Opening the SACCM Showcase with a 20 minute set; “By a Living Thing” Semi Finalist in the Contemporary Country Music Section; Watching the greats Beccy Cole; Kasey Chambers; Sarah Storey, John Williamson, Troy Casser Daley, Adam Brandt; Meeting Anne Kirkpatrick (Slim Dusty’s daughter); Interview with Frank McHugh live to air on Festival FM 101.5; Tamworth Council for the $1200 litter fine pardon (wot the??? ); Busking with Chooka Williams; Performing at Craig Giles & Friends Show; Andrew Clermont’s Ladies Supper Show, talent quests at The Pub; Coca-Cola Open Mike and Battle of the Bands; Feedback  “What’s taken you so long to get here…..you’d better come back again  (Coca Cola Battle of the Band Talent Quest judge) and “We’re looking forward to hearing your music”….(TSA Showcase); Getting Listed in the  artists 2010 Official Guide; Watching Extreme Sports events National Rodeo  & the Line Dancing; Catching up with Chris Callaghan & Scott Dawson (The Goodies); $6 membership at the West’s Leagues Club; Great new music from “Lonesome Train” and “The Basics” (thanks Macca); The Agent who requested the Texettes Press Kit;  The Weather;  the hundreds of Peel Street  Buskers; the Tamworth Olympic Size Pool but not Mary’s 6am alarm; Terry & Teresa’s Tabouli ; Team Ellis’ Bacon & Eggs; Texettes live at Amaroo - our last night and Tamworth itself ...we’ll be back!

Thanks to Friends of the Texettes for the great send off; the Texettes Trailers who came along for the ride, Team Ellis, Mary, Teresa, Dom, Anthony and Daniell for outstandign support.

Congratulations Terry! The song, “By a Living Thing” made the semi finals of TSA's 2010 Professional Contemporary Section of the National Country Songwriting Contest.  It's the first track on our new album "Sure Fire Cure", to be release in April 2010. The album has received heads up  from Mike Parkes (88.7 Coast FM’s Kicking Country  ) who feels that there are  possibly “two potential hits” …. “It’s the most  consistent...best Texettes album yet”.

One last word, have a Tamworth experience yourself!  See www.myspace.com/texettes for Tamworth photos.  Videos will be up on Youtube real soon!

Cheers, Helen, Terry and Dale
